Traditional Chinese Valentine’s Day, otherwise known as 'Qixi,' is upon us. Falling on August 9 this year, the Double Seventh Festival takes place every year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. Celebrate the romantic evening with these fabulous promotions across Shanghai. But be warned — this holiday is popular! Therefore, we highly recommend you make reservations in advance.

Blue Frog

Celebrate a date to remember with your favorite Blue Frog dishes and drinks, and receive a complimentary 'Raspberry Love Cake' when you spend RMB248.

Love is in the air, so grab your better half and treat them to a romantic meal at KABB. Receive a complimentary cake on the house when you spend RMB280.

Liquid Laundry

Stop by Liquid Laundry for the ultimate Chinese Valentine's Day culinary experience. On top of their usual dinner menu, Chef Simon Sunwoo has also prepared a few Qixi specials for all the love birds in the house. Couples who spend more than RMB300 will also receive a complimentary dessert. Their mixologists have also created a special romantic cocktail named the 'Milky Way,' available for one night and one night only.

Morton's

Dine your heart out at Morton's this Chinese Valentine's Day. In an ardent nod to capitalism, the couple who spends the most on their dinner at the steakhouse will be rewarded with a complimentary one-night stay at a luxury five-stary hotel.

Three on the Bund

CryoWorld

Happy hour at the cryotherapy clinic extends to the whole day on Qixi. That means any couple can take a whole body cryo at any time for just RMB150 per person, for aguably one of the more offbeat romantic treats Shanghai has to offer. The Apartment

Spend your Qixi with that special someone at The Apartment with a three-course set dinner for two. Start with the shared appetizer of pork belly ravioli, followed by your choice of main — either grilled tenderloin with summer vegetables or grilled salmon with mint and basil orzo. Finish it all off with a sinful molten lava cake for dessert. The Apartment will also throw in two complimentary welcome glasses of sparkling wine. End the evening with Tuesday's live music entertainment featuring WINK!

Andaz Xintiandi, Shanghai

Celebrate Qixi with your loved one at the Andaz. Special set menus will be available at each of the hotel’s restaurants, including an exclusive seafood platter for two with Perrier-Jouët Champagne for RMB888 at Xuan Bar and a special seven-course set menu at Hai Pai featuring drunken 'peony' prawns, braised pork short ribs, stir-fried beef tenderloin and abalone. Those looking for a daytime option can try the Andaz’s themed afternoon tea in the stunning lounge for RMB388. They've also got a deal on at 88 Sushi Bento Bar. The intimate Japanese venue is offering a romantic full-night experience with a set dinner that includes two glasses of Prosecco and a night in an 'Andaz King Room' for RMB1,988 (RMB688 for dinner only). Couples who book in for the night will also receive a complimentary gift from Lane Crawford.

Paulaner Bräuhaus

The German house of beer, pork knuckle and fun is offering Qixi set menus at all three of its branches. Dinners vary by location but all include mouthwatering Bavarian delights, surf 'n' turf sharing platters suitable for all those lovebirds out there.

Milos

Greek Taverna Milos is offering a two-person set menu for couples to celebrate Qixi. Dishes include fruit de mare with linguini and 'vanilla Madagascar;' slow cooked beef with tomato and cinnamon and a side of lavender mashed potato; a watermelon, feta cheese mousse and arugula salad, with black forest cake for dessert. The dinner includes Ode Panos brut rosé sparkling wine and Merlot Megavouni.

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund

The glitzy hotel on the Bund has many things going on for Chinese Valentine's Day, including a four-course meal at the Grand Brasserie, a romantic evening at the legendary Long Bar featuring the honeyed tunes of Heidi Woehrle and the band, an authentic Chinese meal at Wei Jing Ge, a crafted Qixi menu from Chef Jean-Philippe Dupas at Pelham's and a 'Spa Party' at the hotel's Spa Suite (featuring 'Red Velvet' afternoon tea, a bottle of Champagne and a massage treatment).

Brownstone

Celebrate traditional Chinese Valentine's Day with your significant other at Brownstone in Surpass Court. The tapas bar and lounge is offering two separate set menus that include glasses or bottles of Freixenet Rosé, tapas mixed platters, ham dishes, seafood and creme brûlée or cheesecake for dessert.

Pistolera

Enjoy a special Mexican feast on Qixi with your significant other at Pistolera. Their Hengshan Lu and Laowaijie locations are offering a special four-course set-menu which includes two shrimp cocktail shots, two mini tuna ceviche tostados, a spinach and passion fruit salad plus a surf 'n' turf grilled parrillada. They're also serving an ice cream churro for dessert and a mini bottle of prosecco.

Fairmont Peace Hotel

Spend Qixi on Fairmont Peace Hotel's romantic balcony at The Cathay Room and enjoy an exclusive seven-course dinner featuring butter poached lobster with Kaluga caviar, carpaccio of king scallop, broiled Kumamoto oysters, Australian M5 beef tenderloin, chocolate noir and more. Pair it with a bottle of Dom Perignon Rosé or wine by the glass recommended by their sommelier, all to the tune of a live violin performance during dinner. Fairmont Peace Hotel's famous Jazz band will also be playing your favorite after-dinner tunes at the Jazz Bar. They've also got a four- and five-course set menu available, where each couple will receive a flower.

Jade on 36

The European-fusion restaurant at the Pudong Shangri-la is offering a fabulous treat for couples on Chinese Valentine's Day featuring a six-course menu.

The Place

Enjoy a memorable romantic evening under the stars at The Place with a set dinner for two prepared by Chef Gordan Tzang. Dine on a five-course dinner on their candlelit terrace that includes house-made smoked salmon, 36-month Iberico ham salad, seared Argentinean beef sirloin, whole Boston lobster and much more. The dinner includes two complimentary glasses of sparkling wine, and couples can small fireworks and sparklers.

Ambrosia Teppanyaki (Expo Branch)

The chefs at Ambrosia Teppanyaki's Expo location are tempting all couples with an exquisite 10-course 'Love Forever' set menu prepared during a live cooking show. The menu includes a sashimi platter, Australian wagyu beef tenderloin and ribeye steak, a special dessert and more.
